Game release year: 1992
Recorded it cuz of the funny name :P
This game just ends, more or less. Guess they didn't think someone would get that far.
I hate the fire rate, so inconsistent. Didn't matter if I was tapping or holding down fire. Found a trick though, shooting inside to then scatter the shots when shooting outside, it helped a bit.
The game is only about 250kb, 210kb being the music. Could be way less if they bothered compressing the files.

I remember this being on an Amiga Power coverdisk back in 1992. Love the music. I think the track is called something like "Strange is My Name" if anyones interested.

Gotta admit, it's a rather unique take on Space Invaders. Maybe a few more power ups, some backgrounds, and more colors would have sufficed.

"Then expect something that's fiercer, more cruel and deadly than anything that ever walked the Earth" is what it says. I think the sample used in the music file was called "Tarantula" so maybe that's the name of the film it was taken from.

Yes, it was a bit technically limited. It was my first attempt at a game, and I was writing it all in 68000 assembler, drawing the graphics by directly programming the registers of the Amiga's custom "blitter" chip. I hadn't even discovered interrupts at this point, which is why the music and firing rate were all over the place. The colours were kept that simple as you could do hardware collision detection between bitplanes, so bullets were on one plane, aliens and the ship were on another.

I don't know if it's boring, but it is actually funny. The Revolving Shields idea is very interesting. =)

Music is named "Strange is my name", but what is the talk in it? Can't make it out, apart from the "here we go again" :p

And yes this was on an Amiga Power coverdisc (Issue 14 I believe). It was part of a competition to win a job at Bullfrog, and managed second place as I recall.
