  • @carthsgtr well each to their own :) I've already explained in the comments my inspiration for this piece. I'm guessing you're new to playing so I'll give you a tip, it's better in the long run to respect other players and be happy that we all share passion for the guitar. Attacking a player when offering an opinion will come to bite you.

  • By anti-shred, they didn't mean "shit". Poxy held back playing. The gimmicky harmonics might have worked through one cycle, but after a while it shows your lack of skill on the instrument.

  • @Carthsgtr So, you didn't like it?

  • Thanks for the comments guys! :D

    Really appreciate it :)

I think ultimately it was just too repetitive and held back. Just because it's anti shred doesn't mean you have to play nothing shorter than a minum as as well

  • @amosschorr93 Hes just adding vibrato, I think you are reading into it way too much. To you it may appear to be a visual gimmick but whos to say that was his intent. Judge with your ears not your eyes.

  • @amosschorr93 not being impressed like you say is a personal opinion and a different statement to saying it lacks substance. I'm not necessarily looking for something that requires major technical ability or has impressive runs.I just wanted to hear something musical which this definitely is I think. But like you say it's all down to personal preference and that's the great thing about music, no 2 people are the same.

  • @amosschorr93 Indeed, basically it comes down to personal taste. With all things some will like it others will not.

But assuming how others interpret something you're standing on shaky ground. Can never know for sure how someone else feels about something unless they say so.

When I came to do this I was thinking something very simple, stripped back with harmonics for that bell like sustain basically. If people like or dislike it that's just the name of the game, all opinions are welcome :)

  • @amosschorr93 well I heard a recurring musical phrase, ie. a melody that was developed the next time it was playing with bends and then a 2nd melodic idea that was also developed the 2nd time it was played. Then there was a new motif introduced over the key change using natural harmonics before returning to the original idea.

To put it in classical terms you had the Exposition, Development and finally the Recapitulation, kind of like a Sonata.

But other than that it was all nut bending ;p

  • WOw dude, BRILLIANT

  • @amosschorr93 Well, the trem on my Suhr doesn't pull up so I had to use behind the nut bends. It's a nice visual effect too but it's a technique. All technique is just a means to play the notes, which are the important part, you know - making music...
