  • hi rod, does saltwater fishing in vancouver bc has only few kind of fish compare to asia?because i have went to jericho beach piar to fish, n they dont have that much kind of fish,n they are small fishes, do u know any place in vancouver bc have more kind of big size fishes in seawater.thanks

  • @teethsheet Saltwater species around Vancouver are definitely not fewer than those found in Asia, fishing is quite seasonal too. Beside salmon, you have perch, flounder, sole, and a few other groundfish species. Go to our website and under the "Ask the expert" section, there is actually a feature about your question right now.

  • Do you fish overseas at all Rod? I guess you probably don't have to with the fishing quality in BC!

  • @michaelshanahanfly Sometimes, mostly in Northern Europe these days. I grew up fishing in Asia and Southeastern Australia (Port Philip Bay, Gippsland, all the way up to Eden, Tathra) actually before moving to Canada.

BC offers probably the best freshwater (salmon and trout) fishing in the world, but in my opinion the saltwater experiences offered in Australia are by far the best.

  • Nice video Rod, very simple and informative! Nice weather too that day, hopefully there's more to come :) With your experience, what type of fish would you most likely encounter fishing the lower fraser between now (November) and February?

  • @JCheong04 Pretty slow unfortunately. You're most likely catching bull trout and cutthroat trout, but even most of these fish will be further upstream in tributaries feeding on salmon eggs that have been deposited. For the rest of November and even the early part of December, you still have a chance of catching a coho salmon or two. Chum salmon are available too, but you are more likely to catch them with a spoon or spinner than roe.

  • @fishingwithrod Wow mate, I had no idea you used to fish here. I'll try and go fishing down old Tarthra wharf and a few secret spots on the south coast and get a video for you.

  • nice vid

  • @teethsheet ... the location is right infront of my house on river road, just off of #1 road and west of barnard drive ...( no i am not going to give my address ...lol )... it's basically towards the start of west dyke trail where you can see the airplanes take off and land on the south terminal side, as Rod pointed out, there's the odd winter salmon and other fishes... but nothing exciting...imo.... unless you want to catch nothing but fresh air for the day... tight lines & good luck.

  • and have a case of beer lol. Fish on sir.
