could you send me information on where you got the metal grid?
-
So do you still sell these? Can you make one for a 100 gallon stock tank?
-
@farmdoll38 I have the same system, and some of my wise arses (sorry, very clever horses!) have figured how to flip the grid off, so I put their rock salt block on top - when new it weighs over 20 kilos. As it gets licked away I replace it with a big rock, happens to weigh about 30 kilos.

@sdavis1215 from the wholesale fruit merchant! :) Then you need a very handy man (or woman) to weld you the grids to size, slightly smaller than the interior surface area of the crate.

@LaRanaTJ So where do you buy the large fruit crates?
-
@linustheferret Hi, I too would like to order the grid. Can you send me the link to the newer version and details on ordering. thanks,

@linustheferret GREAT IDEA!!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I"m off to the barn as we speak! I'd love to hear your other ideas!! Keep em' comming!
I bought it at a fencing company in Las Vegas called Tiberti. I have also seen it at different feed stores in different cities. I don't know what you would call it but I asked for a metal grid with 2 inch openings. The thing I got was 2"by 4". My husband cut it to fit and then welded a metal rod around the sharp edges.

No my husband never got around to making them for sale. I wish I could say yes. Hope you can figure out a way to make them. They do work well. :)

If I was a horse, I'd soooo hate my owner!!!! But, since I own a huge draft who has nothing better to do that break out of the pasture and destroy things, I am sooooooo getting one of these made!!!!!

@farmdoll38 I sooooo agree with you. But honestly ( I promise) They seem to get used to it after a while and think of it as normal. :)

@linustheferret ok! I pretty much have exactly the same set up as your video. The problem is, Guartanian, MY BIG GORGEOUS HORSE who I stare at all day cause I just can't help myself(lol) took a firm grasp of the few bits of hay poking out of the grid and as he pulled back the grid came with it! I replaced it. It happened again except this time he got more of the grid in his mouth than hay, got pissed off and slammed a foot into the contraption!! What am I doing wrong? Thanx!!

@farmdoll38 I don't know !!!! I have not seen that. It must be the hay itself maybe. Its kind of funny but I am sure it pisses you off royallyy. Have you tried to put eye bolts in the bottom of the bin and then use bungie cords to hold the grid down on the hay? That might work. If you figure it out be sure to tell us all. :) ( And I stare at my horse all day too we are in the same boat LOL)
