I am a proud crewman of The Midway. I served from 79-81....3- I.O. cruises. The Midway had a colision @ sea in the Mulluca Straights (near Singapore) that blew a 40 by 40 foot hole in the side of the hull, (same size hole as the USS Cole) that nobody State-side ever knew about. We had to limp back to P.I. to fix the ship. I wonder if they tell that story @ The Midway museum? The Midway was the first Carrier task force after the hostages were taken in Iran in "79. We were @ sea for 3 months.

I came from a Navy family. My dad flew in WW-2 and Korea. I voted for "the Democratic alternative" in 2008. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Naval aviators! Oh yeah, one more thing... I burned my draft card in 1972! Thank you vets for my freedom to do that!
