This station was piped through the PA system at my elementary school back in the 1970's. It drove us nuts; we all wanted WRKO the BIG 68!!!!

@dumpstermower - I'd bet it drove you nuts.. at that age, no wonder.. (When I was in school in the 70's, there was never any music at all put through the PA systems...)

@CJaguar265 - The AM station acquired the call letters after the FM went off the air forever in '90 after 23 years. The sign-on only ran once when they signed-on originally in '67. Being a 24hr-a-day station from the beginning, they didn't sign-on again.
