I've made a compost bin very similar using old pallets, no netting. It's worked great for about 5 years now. I have one for yard and kitchen scraps and another for chicken waste and leaves.

Snakes are caught and die in plastic netting... probably other animals as well, but I've removed snakes twice and then have banned the stuff from my garden. Also, all of this can be done without the hardware and certainly without the plastic ties. The ties and the hinges will long outlast the untreated wooden pallets, so why not just use wire.

@puremoore Well BOSS man maybe she just wanted to ue ZIP ties. If you know so much what are you doing here?

I love the lisp

You are thinkin' in the right direction. A three section bin would be better as a great big pile of material at the beginning becomes a small pile at finish. Fill two sections leave one empty. Get it?. Also wire it together. The wire will rust out about the same time the pallets rot. Oh yah, forget the bottom.

I build with pallets all the time theres no need to use the plastic ties, one there not required, two there seroiusly a non eco product! simple fix a 80mm fixing through each corner top middle and bottom into the 3x1 timber on the pallet frame the build will be far stronger and look much better, like the video anyway making one this week :)

this looks complicated I was going to use four pallets and some bailing twine and why does she say compost like that ?

@aaronfu2 Ooooo the horror! There won't be a tree around that will want to hug these people now.

is that blood on the saw?

i made one of these, forget the door man... the huge gaps in the sides will stop it getting hot anyway, and zipties? forget that... just use some rope or wires from around the house.. that way entire project is FREE
Forget about the netting. The compost will stay in the bin. Also, skip the zipties and use some screws. The point of compost isn't to consume more materials. It is to recycle!

I like the fact that you are Composting and the fact that you are Recycling the pallets.
But you then use PLASTIC zip ties and PLASTIC net.
HELLO? Quit Buying Plastics People!
