It is another word for "Outpatient surgery." One example of these type of surgery is tonsillectomy. A kid goes in the hospital in the morning, have their surgery, then in a few hours they go home!

@redbike2009 When I had to go in for outpatient surgery many months back, I requested that cream so my IV wouldn't hurt when they put it in my hand.

That's when they put something on your arm. It inflates, but won't hurt. I like the cream they use on your hands. It causes less pain for the IV.

IV's dont hurt..its just a little poke and its over...but the plastic tube does get sorta annoying...
