to make them glow in the dark there is no harm done by the animals. is it just changing of the genome therefore not causing pain. like the white tiger, that is a change in the genome of the siberian tiger, it does not cause harm to the animals.

To clear some things up with the viruses. See some viruses insert their genetic code into the dna or rna of the cell and they use the cell's own replication ability to produce more. so if you splice out the harmful genetic code and inserted something that isn't harmful like they did with the glow-in-the-dark gene, the cats arn't harmed. There are natural occuring animals, like some marine life that glow in the dark so they wouldn't be harmed.

They use the cats to find a way to treat cancer by using a genetic approach. If you can manipulate the DNA, then you may be able to manipulate cancer cells. If you can't understand that, open a Bio book.

The point of the research is to figure out if they can re-engineer the feline genome to make them more resistant or even immune to feline AIDS, the glowing is just a secondary chararteristic they put in so they had a simple test to know if the modifications were inserted properly.

@sweetncrazygurl Becuase the glow-in-the-dark gene is rather simple. So now that they know how to pass easy genetic coding to cats, they can focus to pass more complicated genes (such as cures for genetic disorders).

I feed & water OVER 30 abandoned, dumped, I call "foreclosure" cats everyday for over 560 days now. The feds here in the USA have mandated, regulated, & taxed ALL US commerce overseas, everywhere but here! Americans are losing their homes their incomes & dumping their pets on the streets. America is now a service industry, we MAKE next to NOTHING here. Instead of GLOWING cats? WHY cant we take back our country from these corporate CENTRAL banker goons in DC & provide homes & prosperity for all?

Hurting cats in any way is very bad karma. Egyptians weren't idiots. You're going to get yours for this abuse. Keeping 5 cats in a small cage with no food or water, doing experiments on them and then disecting them is going to earn you some seriously bad luck. To each his own. Shame on you all. Stop fucking with nature. GROW SOME BALLS, use your lab, to grow some balls and integrity. There's a science experiement for you!
