A cover of the Neil Young song Don't Let it Bring You Down done in a breaks, downtempo drum n bass style was recorded to create the double time feel over slower melodic music.
The song is sung by Rachael Hawkins. Her voice suits the Massive Attack / Lamb production style of the track. The song also features several bass guitar parts using the Digitech Synth Wah pedal to create synth like lines from the long sustained notes implying the chord changes to the faster busier looping parts heard throughout.
I chose to record a cover of this song as I like Neil Youngs early solo albums particularly After the Gold Rush and Harvest. The melodies and chords used with his unique and imaginative lyrics can transport you to another place. He had some OK songs later on too but he seemed to lose his focus as he got older and was a lot more inconsistent with cheesy country tunes and monotonous rambling garage rock which lacked any real good hooks or melodies.
