Yes, this does make everyone think about how Policing should be in The 21st Century.
Idealised Police heroes like Jack Regan & George Carter: -Always tough, but decent & professional, contrast with the killings of Jean Charles De Menezes & Ian Tomlinson; -All of the dedicated day-to-day professionalism eclipsed by unique moments of stupidity & bungling.
-Like all organisations, The Metropolitan Police have some very unsuitable individuals who manage to get in....
What should we all do ?

Love it! I'm so glad I had the best years before the PC brigade &^%$#@ it all up! I used to respect the coppers - no more. Their just a control mechanism to keep the peasants under heel!.
The BEST rozzers on TV - by far - never surpassed & never will be - the PC brigade would wet themselves! That Ford Granny looked the dogs bits too!
Oh if i could go back - when things were poorer - but SO SO much better!

The Sweeney is THE defintive Police show ever made in the UK by a huge margin-nothing comes close. The series captures the gritty reality of Policing in the 70's, when the Police REALLY were the Police, not todays PC cuddily social workers with handcuffs Police! PACE 1984 destroyed the British Police-it's been downhill ever since. Thaw & Waterman were perfect on screen-very credible characters. British people deserve to have Police like Regan & Carter-hard, relentless, utterly determined!
