God asked Abraham to make an ultimate sacrifice. God said: "Take your son; Isaac, who you love, and go to a place I will show you and offer him there as a burnt offering". To this, Abraham asked God: "Why do you command this"? But, God did not respond to his question...
...So Abraham obeyed God's command. - Even if it made no sense to him at all! Sacrificing his own son from Abraham's point of view had no logic in it whatsoever, but Abraham understood that a man with ultimate faith does as God tells him to do. Isaac (Abraham's son) also represented this ultimate and ideal state of devotion: At the mountain-top, Isaac said to Abraham; "You must bind me father, in case my courage fails". - What perfect devotion father and son displayed as ideals for all of us to study! Sai Baba has said: "To earn the grace of God, there is only one recipe: Obey His orders without murmur". - And this is exactly what Abraham and Isaac did.
Of course at the end of the clip, God does instruct Abraham again. He said: "Do not lay your hand on the boy, or do any harm to him. - Now I know that your faith is perfect". - Abraham unconditionally obeyed God's word, even when the command did not make any sense to him. He passed God's test of faith by even being willing to sacrifice his own son‟s life! All we are doing at this programme is sacrificing four hours of our time to sit in meditation by chanting the Gayatri Mantra and offering it with our unconditional love to God, continuing with our dedication and asking Him to ALWAYS, at His will of course, take care of His own physical forms too (just as he does takes care of all of us).
