  • My friend filmed this, and It definitely is folly beach. I should know, I live in Charleston. It wasn't a hurricane, just a strong low pressure system that came very close to shore for a while. Produced some sizable short period swell.

  • I feel bad for you east coast guys, this video is labeled as big waves, those arent big, sorry. Come hit san clemente when we have a good swell.

  • It's big for South Carolina

  • To all the a-holes who have nothing good to say like "I feel bad for you east coast guys, this video is labeled as big waves, those aren't big, sorry." Um, no this video isn't labeled as "big waves," it's labeled as "Folly Beach Surfing - The Washout." The description explains that it's 1 of the bigger days that the poster has seen at this 1 particular spot. This isn't a competition. Folly Beach is cool people & it's not in California, which is another good reason to love it. Get over yourself.

  • Hey. I'm surf every week out here in Cali but am looking forward to visiting Folly. Is there anyplace to rent a long board out there?

  • And the Carolina beaches are all sand and the waves break even and they're not choppy. The water's warm too. In California the water is cold as shit all year long and all the beaches are rocky.

  • ive gone down there 3 days straight now im going again. the waves are nice there but they pretty much never get this big. love folly amd nice video was this hurricane earl?

  • @MattyKB surfing is surfing you have fun with the waves you got

  • @bigbadbucksnort Nah they are chill don here as long as your not a dick and take others waves you'll be fine man it's the south remember that good old hospitality. :)

  • I've got a question for the Folly Beach / Washout locals. I grew up surfing in FL. I've been to Isle of Palms and Folly, but not the Washout. I go back and forth between surfing and bodyboarding, depending on the waves. I know how to handle myself in the water, but I've heard the Washout is unusually aggressive. Just how aggressive is it? Do the locals always have a problem with non-locals? If I'm bodyboarding, is that going to start a fight?

  • @jadibones Yah we don't have size like you guys in Cali but we sure do have style. I love folly.

  • @356ALX Becasue the "cold" pacific has waves everyday. Everyday.

  • @MattyKB Save your pity for folks that live in land-locked states, besides....why would Carolinians desire the cold Pacific when they have the warm Atlantic.

  • @MattyKB Where is it labeled,"big waves?"
