Since working as the Equine Artistic Advisor on Spielberg's version of Micheal Morpurgo's 'War Horse' I have found myself fascinated by all things relating to the First World War, especially when it involves horses. Having produced the sketches in pencil that are used in the film, I wanted to try similar subjects in a different medium, hence the ink shown here.

This painting of a mounted British army officer (probably a lieutenant) is for sale and will be available to buy on my website very soon:

The reference photograph was from the collection of Lt-Col Disney who was a Major in the 1/5th Lincolnshire Regiment during the First World War. The photo could be of Disney himself but has not been positively identified.
