@missones I never thought Brother Russell was funny. Sometimes satire slides over into anger and hatred and he was guilty of that. Someone must have hurt him really badly and he did what so many progressives decry: he generalized that over into an attitude towards anything/anyone of faith. (I was acquainted with him, so that might color my perception of his "humor", even though I am not particularly religious myself).

@missones If you do the search that someone listed back there (Weekend America, Gladys Hardy), and listen to the audio of the show, you'll hear the interviewer talking with Brother Russell about Scott H./Gladys. Didn't sound like he was too happy about it,either. I can't see why he's complaining, though. Melba should have beat "Gladys" to the punch, called Ellen first. Maybe Melba's brand of sarcasm wasn't what Ellen was looking for. Nice wins over mean-spirited, for most folks anyway.

@iBenjafied Yes, that's true. Someone linked to an article by a news magazine. I searched for "Weekend America, Gladys Hardy" & a page came up with a link to the article. I had to listen to the audio clip, but it explains about who Gladys really is (a guy, a comedian or announcer or something). I don't know if the link is still up. It's been a while since I listened to it. I guess you could search for the article like I did. So this is why Gladys never makes an appearance on Ellen's show

A real person, yes. A little old lady? No. It's a guy named Scott Hardy. He lives in Austin, does comedic bits on the radio and sometimes acts as an emcee for events in the Austin area. That's why Gladys always says she doesn't like to get out anywhere, likes to stay home. LOL.
