Setting up the 5/8 venom c.b antenna

Setting up the GPA100 Venom 5/8 wave antenna, gets a good 20+ miles out & with a nice low SWR reading, step by step show through how I set mine up on the back of the house.

@gippotrainspotter yes it is, but it was'nt stable enough..so I put the venom onto T bars instead.

a99's are junk. Hard to beat the old 5/8 silver rod.

@DaveHorrocks I have an a99 with a white stick on top, load of crap, i agree, silver rods are good, if you take the time to seal the joints & put it up right...lasted me through a bad winter & high winds with great swr

Where did you get that pole ?

@sboxjunk the mounting pole is a swan neck aerial pole, got it from a hardware store, should be able to get them on the interwebnet.

@thebaldcount - i had a a99 with the firestick top in the 90's. it worked very well.

@symonh2000 The antron99 I have is a 3 section 5/8 wave,the top section is replacedwith an upgraded firestik. The top section has an swr screw to fine tune. I gave it a try the other day & for an antron thats supposed to be really good on low swr accross the bands... it was'nt. Got high 3.2 swr so I reinforced the silver rod with some more tape & tightened the jubilee clip, then raised it up another 2 feet...works great, works further, great radio & modulation reports too.

The Antron will work worse than the Venom as the Antron is only a 1/2 wave.
