@MrORLY I think it's a cop out to say American muscle can't handle because they aren't meant to. The Corvette is an exception so is the GTO. I've driven it and it's very composed. I've driven an E39 M5 and it was great as well. The GTO is Australian however.

As much as I love the new GTO; there's just something about a handbuild M5 ... and really it's not that much slower at all.

Haha, yes the M5 is a heavy car, although not by todays 5 door luxury saloon standards, but you've obviously never driven any BMW, no matter what spec or engine size it is, there's one thing you can always guarantee with a beemer, it WILL handle well. The E34 M5 was tuned ON the Nurburgring, then when the 3.8 came out it had optional adaptive dampers. One of these will out handle any yank muscle.
