Examples of leading a horse by walking backwards, in the front leading position. In this video look for the timing of the horses' response to halt, the distance between handler and horse, and the last segment of improvements as compared to the beginning work.
Leading is a natural progression to lunging and is the easiest way to establish the right relationship with your horse. However, I believe it's the most neglected tool to improvement!
