THE CYCLOPS
Rooms without a view, in a quasi open-air, non visible from the street, building.
The hotel is ensconced between existing buildings, its only façade looking out
in a courtyard.
A passageway is its only access to the street.
The traveling spirit it aims to cater for can be described by the words
Autonomy, Independence, Privacy & Exclusivity.
Privacy, is achieved by avoiding large public gatherings inside the building;
the hotel boasts no spa, restaurant, conference facilities or boutiques.
All activities take place in the rooms, which are fully equipped in order to
provide guests with an adaptable-to their needs- environment, enabling them to express themselves while away from home.
A special automatic system using conveyor belts and mini service elevators for each room, ensures 24- hour room service without unnecessary contact with hotel personnel or other guests.
From food and drink to luggage & laundry, each room is completely autonomous.
Guests have the possibility to entertain friends, when away from home, without having to use public spaces (restaurants or bars where duration of stay & code of behavior are limited).
The rooms are spacious enough to accommodate a party, versatile enough to be transformed into a working space (supporting technology, for presentations & entertainment) and and are equipped with transformable furniture (box-like beds).
Various types of spa treatments can be performed in the specially designed bathrooms of each suite.
The building is organized around an atrium, (12,60m*9,60m), creating
a vertical well, (aperture 8,60m*5,60m), which, along with the façade,
a sheet of wire mesh, provide for light and air.
The lower part of the façade sheet can be transformed into a canopy by an outward pivoting motion.
Nearly all public areas are open-air.
All rooms are arranged around the atrium and are separated from it by glass panels protected by wire mesh.
30 rooms/suites 4 sizes, (from 22m2 to 58m2) on 5 levels, (6/level).
A private mini lounge on each level caters for every 6 rooms.
The ground floor: entrance hall, reception, a lounge area & offices.
The basements host machinery, (the conveyor belt system), storage areas,
service areas (preparation area for room service, etc).
