  • My Yellow Electric just spit 30 babies last night and i am wondering... how are you sure if they are eating? i put some "Hikari First Bites" in there today which is like day 1 or day 2 of them being free swimming. i am just worried, how can i be sure? some of them are swimming alot, some are not swimming so much. any advice is greatly appreciated thank you! and i had to subscribe :)

  • @34SkiLLz14Luck Make sure the food is really fine and sinks to the bottom. Once they become free swimming you'll see them actively looking for the food

  • My jewel Cichlid fry are about 6 days old and free swimming, I put a panty hose of my fluval cannister filter which I noticed sucked the fry into it. However, the water is not properly filtered due to the fact that larger particles dont go through the pantyhose. What should I do, is there a better filter for the fry? or is it ok to have bits of old food all over the sand substrate for the fry to pick at and keep their bellies full?

  • @adel10453 Hi Adel, your best getting a sponge filter. Huey Hung make the best ones imo.

  • so do you have a net on the bottom to keep the fry from sticking to the bottom of the glass tank? thank's

  • @titanical97 Hi, no need for a net as they don't stick to the bottom piece of glass :) Easier for me to maintain the tank without sand

  • @bolly12345 Hey thank you for your time! They all came out as wigglers. free swimmers, no egg sacks attatched. Also with the hikari first bites they do float to the bottom, you just cant see the food enough to tell. but they are on day 2, no deaths. i imagine they have found food.

  • My kenyi laid eggs on dec 5th I stripped her dec 19th . no egg sacks left , all seemed well. How ever I put some food in there right away , some fine fine baby food from petco. I didn't really see them eat, mostly cuddled in a corner. I feed them 2-3 more times before bed to see if they would eat. When i woke up most a26 of the 27 were dead and the bottom of the tank had like a blanket of fuzz, could this be food? do you wait a day or two after striping before you feed ? thanks.
