This hymn, not actually in the typical Byzantine style, is in the Russian Language while performed by Roman (i.e. Latin) monks. I actually have no idea was vespers are being sung, but it is a beautiful recording either way. If anyone can help me with identifying this psalmody/hymnody I would greatly appreciate it. Glory to Jesus Christ!

  • This is from the Psalms: Hearken on me O LORD...in Old Slavonik.

The Orthodox Vesper Service starts with the Blessing, Litany and Psalms....

  • @adamantis4657 Thank you.

  • These vespers are being sung by the Benedictine Monks of the Oriental Rite at the Monastery of Chevetogne in Belgium. (Roman Catholic). I visited this monasterey some years ago. It is not very far from where I live. Approx. 70 Kms south of Brussels.

  • @livesteam Yes thank you for recalling the name of the monastery. If only I knew what song was being chanted to include the lyrics in the drop down information. Do you know? It is Church Slavonic language I think.

  • Beautiful! Very beautiful and it soothes the soul and calms the waves whenever I hear songs like this.

    Dominus vobiscum!
