Can a person really be saved simply by "believing" that JESUS IS THEIR SAVIOR? Or, is anything else required for salvation?

  • God's wise plan of salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone drives the last remaining vestiges of pride from our being. Pride, you may remember, was the devil's downfall and thus became ours after the fall. Dropping the baggage of self-righteousness is mandatory if we're to enter in by way of the narrow gate.

Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

  • @gore53 Amen..."my yoke is EASY, my burden is light.

  • I am with you 100%! That term "easy believism" as it is used derogatorily is my bête noire. I bristle when I hear it used that way because, as you point out, believing IS easy. It is simply a matter of changing your mind (the true meaning of repentance) that your salvation depends on "works of rightousness that we have done" Titus 3:5 to the belief that the cross-work of Christ ALONE is enough for salvation. As the hymnist wrote:

Nothing in my hand I bring, Simply to the cross I cling

  • @egwpisteuw Amen...beautifully stated.

  • Acknowledging only at an intellectual level that Jesus died on the cross for our sins is a work in itself, and therefore can't bring salvation. Eph. 2:8 clearly states that saving faith is a gift that comes from God and it's not ours, so how do you make the difference between intellectual acknowledging and true faith? Well, James 2:19-20 explains it. No, you don't HAVE to work in order to gain salvation, but you genuinely WANT to after salvation.

  • @fakirJ The subject of the verse is "salvation" not "faith". Therefore, the "gift" is salvation" not "faith".

  • Simple plan of salvation. God loves you so much that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die for all your sins. Jesus was buried and rose again so that you by faith alone in Christ alone can by God's grace have the free gift of eternal life in heaven that can never be lost. John 6:47. Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life. God bless.

  • @sincitypreacher John 4:10 is one of my favorite verses along with John 3:16 and Romans 10:13. All simple.

  • I love to hear someone preach the truth. There are so many people trying so hard to help God out by requiring something of us to qualify us as Christians. I actually heard a pastor recently say that we aren't saved by some prayer that we made but by our obedience. When I emailed him asking him about what Paul wrote happened to the Carnal Chrisitan in 1 Cor 3 and how he was saved as though he was snatched out of the fire, and the response was that he knew that but didn't have to preach it.

  • Jesus + Nothing!

What part of John 3:16 is not clear?

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31)

    Hallelujah! (Praise the Lord)

  • Acts 20:21 they must have repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Mark 1:15 repent and believe the gospel. Salvation is by faith alone but people like you redefine faith. Faith is not just mental assent to some historical facts. There is conviction turning to God and putting faith in Jesus Christ.

  • Thanks for sending me this brother.
