no they are not better a single 4870 is as good as sli 8800gt(which is what a 9800gt is) and once AA comes in to play it wins so a 4870x2 is better but only reccomended for 1920x1200 and above resolutions

yes ati is usaly for people on a budget but nvidia is for poeple who have got money to throw at expensive card like the gtx 295 and the gtx 280

Not really, just nvidia's cards are usually better. The 4870x2 actually performed better then the GTX295 a lot. I know you can find review sites about it being smashed. Turns out that the real public (without bias reviews) has seen much different. The GTX295 is another one of Nvidia's Dual GPU failures. I'm not even a fan boy. I just enjoy best bang for buck. I'd rather drop money down for 2x 4870's 1gb each. Then a Single GTX 285 (since same price)
