IMPORTANT: To support further investigation and possible prosecution of the use of torture, go to http://www.aclu.org/investigatetorture

Bill O'Reilly on Fox News has attacked the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and its members, like me, a lot lately, including the bogus attack I deconstruct in this video regarding the ACLU's support for releasing photos and other information about abuse and torture in several prisons run by the U.S. military.

The clips of "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News that I use in this video come from the "Talking Points Memo" (and subsequent discussion) on May 15, 2009, some of which you can find in a transcript on the Fox News website at http://tinyurl.com/TrashACLU

The clips of ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero on CNN's "Campbell Brown: No Bias, No Bull" program come from the episode aired on May 13, 2009, the full transcript of which is at http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0905/13/ec.01.html

The clip of former Vice President Dick Cheney comes from his May 21, 2009, speech to the American Enterprise Institute (as covered by Fox News) that you can find in full at http://www.aei.org/video/101099

The clips of ACLU of Northern California staff attorney Ann Brick come from the May 13, 2009, CBS5 segment available online at http://cbs5.com/video/?id=50108@kpix.dayport.com

The clip of ACLU Executive Director Anthony Romero on CBS' "Face The Nation" program comes from the May 17, 2009, episode you can find at http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=5020699n

And, finally, as always, you can find DOZENS and DOZENS more examples of Fox News bias on my Fox News bias playlist on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=A3BD2524FE99BD4D

  • As an Australian (the country where Murdoch was born) I feel I must apologise on behalf of my Nation for allowing a person of such destructive potential and selfish intentions into the world.

This person cares about nothing more than gathering as much money and influence as possible and has no regard for impact on the world.

If you feel the need to execute him for treason, or any other charge, you will have my full support.

  • I think the only reason you can make these videos so well is that you can pause Bill. I just imagined you trying to do this live with the moron yelling over you.

  • Oh yeah, if anyone wants a really good treatment as to whether the ratification of torture was systemic, check out Zimbardo's book and lecture discussing it, "The Lucifer Effect".

  • So, Fox news viewers admit that the use of torture is likely to cause backlash in terms of recruitment for the Al-Qaeda (hell, one of the guys responsible for a terrorist attack that was caught actually was shown a scene from a movie by his recruiters). The appropriate thing to do to soothe people isn't to pretend that such incidents didn't occur, it's to compensate the victims, apologise profusely, start an investigation and punish the perpetrators. Perhaps resign, too.

  • @Jefgg

So you'd have the time of your life completely naked in a human pyramid full of men with Alsatians barking at you? Remind me never to go to one of your parties.

  • @HatOfWisdom Thank you. I'll be here all week.

  • @Jefgg You are the evil one from the prophecies.

  • I could care less if the United State military tortures Al Qaeda detainees. Those Al Qaeda animals had the time of their lives. Torture goes on all over the world every single day. Wake up and smell the coffee. The only thing some stupid American troops did wrong was to take photographs and get caught.

  • @angie4josh

When you have a problem with your employer, college, police agency, IRS or local /national government the ACLU is there.

How would any individual gather enough money to have a day in court without them?

  • Fuck the ACLU

  • It seems like in a lot of republicans minds - if you can sucessfully ignore or cover up something then that makes problems go away - because as long as you don't have to deal with it then it never really happened... so anyone blowing the whistle on abuses like that is just "making trouble" - using that mindset.

Out of sight - out of mind, apparently.

Its not too dissimilar to the whole thing with "outsourcing" prisoners to allies who don't have laws against torture - 'cos hey WE didn't do it!
