JULY 26, 2010 -- What a Surprise Today - The Airship called Snoopy 1 Visits Frederick Airport - See the Ground Crew Arrive as we wait for the arrival of the Blimp. Watch as it puts on a show of low passes in practice for the final landing. Pardon the wind, spectator and other aircraft noises. The Blimp will only be here for a short time. I guess Frederick Airport is the Motel 6 for Blimps, lol. We'll leave the light on for ya Snoopy!

And a side note about Frederick,its a popular airport for "other" aviation such as blimps,airships,gliders,etc because of several reasons, as a flight student my self out of KFDK i can attest to the fact that theres ample runway , even for a 737 or CRJ, no trees/high power lines for good distance, and the best part about KFDK is that it isnt in the DC SFRA, meaning you dont need special clearance to fly in class B,or waivers to fly FAR135 or 91 flights in restricted airspace,saves on time and $

@bigblockz8 I wish US Air would start a commuter flight like I once saw in Hagerstown. Maybe if they get a new terminal and tower built they will have such flights to connect people to DC, BWI, Philly and NY. I would think many would commute to work in NY like that. I know some people use the Northeast Corridor train daily to work in DC and live in NY. That's a long ride each day!

this is why I love flight training @ KFDK, you see gliders, military ops,helis, and blimps , ballons, powered parachutes, ALL IN ONE TRAFFIC PATTERN, too bad i scheduled my lesson for the 27th or i woulda seen this
