This is Gary Moore's hit song, Over The Hills And Far Away. It was released back in 1986 on the album Wild Frontier.
To me, this version is so much better than the POS cover that Nightwish made. I don't just say that because I'm a nut for older style tunes.

a very underrated guitarist and songwriter, been listening to him since I was a teenager living in Italy. First Moore track I have heard was The Loner, blew my mind away, still does. From which Irish traditional tune is the beginning from? I love Irish music too

Great track :) I really love the original version, this one... But damn! Listenning to this I just can't help but think that this track begged to have a Symphonic Metal cover. Just listen to all the stuff going on in this track. It just had to be done :P

To be honest, I love Nightwish, I love Moore, and on this song there are differences, but I really can't see much of a difference aside from Moore's more folk sound, and Nightwish's symphonic metal sound.
