Download the Violin sample used here from Looptalk - http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?p=350622#350622

The Harmonic Filtering tool associated with Edison's EQ is very useful when you want to clean up instruments samples that have background noise or, as in this case, 'bow scrape' from a violin.

I will upload the violin sample used in this tutorial to Looptalk so you can download it and check it out for yourself.

  • Your tips have helped me polish my tracks and get recognition!! I can't begin to thank you enough for putting forth the time and effort to help us lowly nooby musicians. : )

  • Well let's play a rapper records hiself, however he's on a cheap mic, so there's a fan noise... could he use this to remove the noise ? (like a 40 sec verse)

  • @YannickzTV - There is a 'Clean tool' for that. Check the toolbar in Edison. OR - watch?v=Z1CyFNoAWZc

  • @TranceTips you failed

  • the bow scrape on its own could be made into a creepy soundscape

  • Pure bow scrape is the nicest sounding thing in the tute haha.

  • your tutorials are the best!

  • From now on, I'm a proud subscriber...

  • Interesting :)

  • @Jus7as hahaha :D this has nothing to do with harmonic obertones. you want to extract vocals from a song? this you can do by equalizing properly or by antiphasing an exactl instrumental version of your song with the song itself. This will extract everything from your song, what is missing in the instrumental (vocals)
