Jim "The Rookie" Morris' life story is the inspiration behind the Walt Disney blockbuster film, "The Rookie." Jim's childhood dream of becoming a major league baseball player was derailed by injuries and, admittedly, a lack of maturity. Eleven years after his retirement from baseball, Jim's dream was re-ignited by his then rag-tag high school team, when they made each other the following bet: If they won a District Championship, Jim would have to try out for a major league team. It was this agreement that helped Jim achieve his dream of pitching in the big leagues. Jim Morris will inspire and motivate your audience to never give up on their dreams.

  • Ya like the movie and the story bejind it says u can quit or follow ur own dreams

  • I know someone out there is going to say he never won a World Series or MVP. But the point is he made it to the MLB at age 35. People usually make it there by 20.

  • @theatlantean1 your comment just inspired me again. thank you

  • this guy is a class act.. I got to meet him on the set of "The Rookie" at the Ball Park in Arlington (TX) I was fortunate enough to be part of the filming as "High School Umpire #1" As an Umpire of 13 years, I spoke to producers and helped them to use REAL umpires instead of actors. I had a great time and would do it all again, in a heart beat. "Strike... Three..."

  • Awesome movie, Awesome story, Awesome message about not giving up on your dreams. It seems like there are so many people who want you to fail, simply due to the fact that they failed, or for the simple fact that they cannot comprehend someone having a dream. Like Einstein once said, "Great spirits have ALWAYS encountered INTENSE opposition from mediocre minds". I find this to be very true in our society today, more than ever. People want to see others fail due to their own insecurities.
