Polycount Spy Update - L'etranger/Eternal Reward Tutorial

Hate it or love it, the new spy weapons are interesting additions to the spy's arsenal.

Personally I feel that it requires a fair bit of skill to use them, because you are essentially 'naked' w/o your disguise kit. Nonetheless, it presents a whole new challenge that the other watches couldn't.

These 2 can be used tgt with Cloak&Dagger, but it's not as effective as how I used it in this vid. Dead ringer tgt with these 2 weapons is almost impossible. The best way to play using these is to pick out stragglers; rather similar to how you can use the classic spy watch.

Not much of the l'etranger here, but it's really useful in helping you gain much needed cloak when you're exposed w/o a disguise. So yeah I'd prefer it over the other guns when using this knife.

I don't think you should always use the invis watch. I use the DR almost always with this knife because it works for me much better than the default watch. Maybe you just say so because you tried it with the DR a couple of times and it didn't turn out well. And it isn't that hard like you say. I find it even easier than the default knife. It's just different in some ways, and what was hard with the default is easy with YER, and opposite. That's what I think

@IcarusLT haha yeah over the past few days i've seen some really pro people use the DR with this combination, and it seems to work too haha. i made this vid in a hurry so :P yeah i agree though!

I'm sorry but what benefit does this have over the original knife?

I can just disguise instantly after backstabbing someone ('B' key) and in the heat of battle no one really hears a normal backstab anyway.

@Epsilonic well i wouldn't say that it has a major benefit over the normal knife. i can still earn a decently high score with this, but the dead ringer with the normal knife is always my best combination. it's also the most practical.

but the fact remains that not many can use this style of tf2 spy because it's really hard. it just gives me lotsa satisfaction cos it's really difficult - that's all to it ^^

@Epsilonic oh and people DO hear a normal backstab, especially if you play with good players. so if you have the hat (which i don't), this set is gonna be a huge bonus, like what jmingrao said.

Cloak and Dagger with this is unstoppable when you get going. On payload because it's almost impossible to tell your teammates been stabbed, I got 13 backstabs in a row and I've had Tf2 4 a week when I was in broad daylight and literally the whole blue team could see me. I only died because I ran out of enemies 2 kill LOL.

The one tip is only EVER backstab when you know you'll hit cause u don't wanna blow you're cover. And never shoot at point blank unless you HAVE to.

@Epsilonic MY logic to the knife is that most of the time to get a backstab i have to get behind the enemy without them noticing. So the disguise doesnt do anything for me other than for sentries. It helps with combos because of the sound but also because if you are already disguised it just looks like one of the other teams teammates disappeared.

@Epsilonic have you tried it? i use this knife if you kill a players teammate with the original knife people will turn and look at the direction the sound came from. adn if you have problems with multiple sentries and engineers you can kill the engineers without sentries paying attention to you.

the new knife has its downsides, but it makes one spy tactic laughably easy. Stab and saps.

@Epsilonic Disguising with the normal knife takes a lot longer compared to the eternal reward. As soon as you backstab a person with the eternal reward, you disguise instantly (good for stab n saps), the corpse doesnt yell and fades away almost instantly.

It's a great knife.

If the engy has a dispenser behind him that you can get behind, then get behind it so you, the engy, the dispense and the sentry are lined up, then uncloak. the engy will get blasted and you can sap the dispenser and gun from that one spot. still no disguise though.
