  • hey thanx 4 the vid but i have one question....can the field mixer work with camcorders more specifically the Canon Vixia HF S10

  • You can use field mixers with any camcorder containing an external audio jack (only the most low-end camcorders don't have them). Your camcorder has a 1/8" input, so you may need an adapter, depending on the mixer's audio-out jacks. Check out the two links in the description for this clip (top right) for more info. Hope this helps!

  • so let me get what a field mixer is. It;s basically a solution for more audio imputs. so say my camera has only 2 XLR imputs but i need 4 i can just plug this thing in and have more imputs? is this it? ?? Please reply!?

  • You got it. Every mixer is different, with a wide variety out there to choose from. Do your homework to find the one best suited for your specific needs. Check out the links to 2 articles listed in this video's description (top right), they'll get you headed in the right direction. Cheers.

  • i type in "Field audio recorder field test outdoors " and yet it seems as if nobody tests in the real world outside,Why is this?

  • awesome! need this for DSLR filmmaking! I'll go buy one today!

  • @FortDodgeFilm No, is the short answer, you need 2 mic's and 2 channels for Stereo, 1 mic will give you mono twice , so L&R are equil.

  • so where do I get something that sounds as good as a Sound Devices 442,that works on batteries,has 4 XLS's with 48v P for < $300:oo / £200:oo?

  • Honestly, I am not sure why the manufacturers charge $1K or more for 4-channel field mixers. I mean, they're all analog (sans the Sony DMX), and I got two 16-channel Behringers for $100 each. Is adding battery power to a mixer making it worth like it's been made out of gold? I just don't get it... I mean, don't get me wrong, I got the Sony DMX-P01, and Edirol R-44, and I am salivating over the Fostex FM-4. But why the price curve is so steep for a battery powered analog mixer?

  • Haha never mind! I should have finished the video before asking! xD

  • Nice vids! Will a field mixer turn my mono lapel mic into stereo when it passes the audio to the filming equipment or other recording device? Thanks.
