WANE-TV: Luers Showcased in Voucher Program

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) -- Education reform leaders were in Fort Wayne Monday to showcase one of the schools that is part of the state's voucher program.

Bishop Luers has 58 students in the program. Leaders said the goal is for all kids in the state to get an effective education. They said Indiana is becoming a leader in education reform.

"We are the nation's model now for educational reform, not just in terms of school vouchers but in charter schools, teacher reforms and effectiveness of teacher reform. We are really breaking the model in this state," said Robert Enlow, Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice.

"It's a good program to bring your child into a good school to get a good education," said Shirley Bennett, Child in Program.

Lawmakers were also at the event to learn more about the voucher program.
