Double GE test track action!!!

On Friday August 29th, 2008 GE was testing TWO sets of locomotives! The first set (GE#2011, 6002, test car #90, and BNSF #7420) were testing on the Norfolk Southern mainline (ex NKP) east out of Erie. The second set (CSX #568, CSX #914, Iowa Interstate #509 in primer, and GE #6000 were stretching their legs on GE's test track. The Iowa Interstate units are being shipped out in primer. Video was shot behind the GE plant and at Walbridge road. Walbridge road is a great place to watch trains as CSX, NS, and the GE test track all cross it and the tracks are very close together!

How fast are these test runs? The four unit lashup near the end looked like they were moving very fast!!

They will get up to 60 mph on the test track, but sometimes it seems faster!

Is 2011 the hybrid locomotive with regenerative braking? Is there any news on how the development of that drivetrain is coming, and if it has been tested in real world line haul conditions?
