AUGUSTA—Senator Joe Brannigan, D-Cumberland County, and Assistant Senate Majority Leader John Martin., D-Aroostook County, who have over 64 years of combined public service today called the impact of cuts by the Bush Administration in Washington "catastrophic."
"We thought we had a moratorium so that we could get a delay to understand them and maybe change some of them. Congress agreed, but they attached it to the SCHIP bill, and as you know President Bush vetoed the SCHIP bill and by doing that did away with all the work we had done to put a moratorium on these rule changes," said Senator Brannigan.
