Killik, Dark Planet Series

This video was created using the Spore Creature Creator. I seem to be so into the creepy lately but its a hard look for me since I'm so used to more goofy and lighthearted stuff. I think I actually spent 3 to 4 hours trying to get it to look evil and that's about twice as long as I typically spend on a creature.

Anyways down to the techniques, I used horns to get the basic fangs, I always place them on the upper jaw since there are animation issues which arise when you place an object on the lower jaw. The strange sideways fangs were made by twisting the ram horn into the head. Ram horns are great parts to use for detail since they stay pretty rigid when animating while others are liable to wobble a bit. I used rockne to get the extra bone plating on the head and to hide the wobbling shark fins which were used for ears. Ram horns also make up the rib cage and I used an antenna for the tail to save a little complexity. I tried exaggerating the proportions of the front legs and feet in order to give it a more surreal look and to provide visual interest.

hm... well I made this back with just the creature creator and I believe they have changed the walk/run cycles a bit since then unfortunately. But all I can really tell you to do is play around with the positioning of the legs and see what you can get from that. It's been so long I've forgotten exactly how I got this run cycle. : /

i don't know the dark planet series but i am very impressed with your creativity, though i have to agree with the horns comment. i would really love some feed back on my own creations if your bored enough ;-)
