About TEDx, x = independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

  • don't be fooled into a debate about powerpoint. the question raised is: are we sacrificing creativity in this age of information? there is more than one way to learn. don't forget that 85% of the message is "meta language", which is conveyed by the body, through movement.

  • i enjoyed the performance - and at the same time it just reinforces an old, long standing paradigm... dancers are presented only as beautiful moving bodies presenting other people's work, not the ones making theory, not the ones with voices to talk about it. the true intelligence of embodiment needs to enter the academia, too. not only dance as a tool for others, but as a form of creating new knowledge.

  • 25 people spotted his errors in saying photons travel at "almost" the speed of light and that scientists using laser cooling can reach absolute zero (breaking the unbreakable third law of thermodynamics).

    Oh wait, now it's 26.

  • This is mindblowing. The music at the end gave me goosebumps.

  • Love this idea-for some it could work-use art and beauty to show conceptual abstracts and add appreciation for a positive human contribution.

  • um is John Bohannon single?

  • 22 People can't dance.

  • One rule about making powerpoint presentation is to not put anything that moves in it because it distracts attention. Watching this, I was either looking at the dancer's movement or trying to listen to what he was saying. To convey a message you don't split peoples attention.

  • I would have done a lot better in oChem if my prof used dancers...

  • I always thought the economy would eventually be solved through interpretive dance.

  • are we humans? or are we dancers?

  • whats the name of that song at the end that they dance to?
