Riding BART in Market Street Subway

Odd, I know, but not many subway videos, since the travel between stations is so short, its worked out ok. From Embarcadero to Powell on the Millbrae Line

Its funny, my other video "BART Through Oakland" is the same train, and he didn't even make the announcements, this was the first we heard from him, he was a big guy tho.

You know how the BART cars are different from the WMATA cars? The consist length of the BART cars can be arranged into 3 cars, 5 cars, 7 cars, or 10 cars. The WMATA cars are in married pairs, which can be numerated at 2 to 8 cars because of the length of the platform at each WMATA station.

Actually the BART trains can be put in any combo from 3-10 car trains, they have 3 different style of cars to allow this. 10 is the longest that will fit in the stations. This train is a 4 car, one of my other vids is a 9 car.

Station announcements by train operators are far different now than they were back when I first rode BART early in 1973 just five months after the system opened. About ten or fifteen seconds before the train arrived at a station announcements were pleasant and sounded like this. "Ashby, Ashby Station. Platform is to the left. Please watch your step upon exiting and have a nice day."

The subway in SFO SUCKS! because it is louder than the one in Philadelphia.

As of Sept. 14, 2009, the Dublin/Pleasanton line ends at Daly City and Richmond runs trains to Milbrae on weekdays until 7 pm and now Pittsburgh/Bay Point trains stop at SFO and will end at Milbrae on weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

There is no actual "Millbrae Line", however. The Blue Line is the Dublin/Pleasanton line, The red line is the Richmond line, And the commonly mistaken Orange Line is the Fremont Line. The Green Line is the Daly City line, and the Yellow Line is the Pittsburg/Bay Point Line.
