The key rule of cross-culture is your way (of doing things) is just "a" way, the "the" way. Unless you respect other ways of thinking, communicating, solving problems, building business relations and "doing business" you will encounter problem after problem.

  • SMA94, frustration is hard to overcome, and the desire to say "do it MY way" is hard to resist. Nonetheless, no way is "right"--as a host you expect guest to follow your rules. Well, in China making their $ they've right to ask us to follow their rules (incl. rules not found on paper).

    IMH exp. I have been screwed in biz. twice, both times by ... Westerners.

  • RESPECTFULLY I disagree with xiaoxiao,

    Really I've worked for variuos chinese US based firms for many years. The Chinese firms arrive without any base of guilt which western are born woith, So chinese go on and steal IP, mistreat employees, AND IN GENERAL Atheir ego's get out of control becuse they think they then sleves are responsiable for sucess and not the enviornemnet and American staff. In America it's a team effort, the chinese want personal glory.

  • It is a big issue, and I think there is room for both you and xiaoxiao to be right. Chinese outside China working for Chinese firms do not pay enough attention to foreign "ways," and often what happens is the Chinese "superiority" belief takes over.

    This also happened (still) with Japanese and Korean firms.

  • @sma94 Don't like the business?

    For the record, Asians were the first ones to invent gunpowder and use it for weapons, centuries before the West.

  • @sma94 You're joking? Who caused all the global wars and holocaust? Freedom my @ss

  • @ravenssky Hypocrite. It's the other way around.

  • This dude is quite right.

  • @MsColdCanada This is where you are wrong, when you using thought rather than using what you can see. Some Tibetans monks are following Dalai, The Uygurs are not angel, some are lazy and drug dealers , I know western only see their point of views as they don't see other people's point views.

  • @powerofthroughts Strange I thought the Tibetans and Uygurs thought the Chinese did do that.

  • I don't understand the purpose of this video. We people in what you consider the Western nation aren't retarded babies, you don't need to baby us, all of us understand that the same size doesn't fit all. I think you should direct this at a certain person, in your preference a Westerner. But to say that all Westerners don't understand is equally as foolish as saying that every person from the East understands. It's a tough world.

  • well the problem is america. they are always pointing fingers even if they do a worse job. and think they are the best. arogant fuckers.

  • In the west; people are more aggressive; in china people are more focus on the objective; the Chinese way of life is about survivor and work together to build a better world; in the western way of life is about take from others; the westerns taken from everyone; the present u.s.a, Canada; Australia ; New Zealand ; etc; I never see china would got to other regions and taken people's home by force before; I prefer the chinese ways;

  • This concept really isn't that hard to understand. I don't know why so many people think it is. Even if you are dealing with people within the same society or same culture, you still have to learn how to compromise in some form.

    Also, enough of this whose ways (Asian, Western, etc.) brought about the greatest changes. If people want to get nitty gritty, like absolutely detailed about who did what the most, chances are all peoples contributed roughly the same. Everyone has geniuses and assholes
