@AskAGuitarPro I've had the same problem.. it fails to return to normal pitch and the treadle will move side to side about 5mm each way with my foot on it. additionally it squeaks quite a lot and is not very smooth.. any ideas on what's wrong/ what I should do?

Given the cost of the pedal, it might not be practical to mail it to have it serviced. I'm guessing you've already looked into this, but I'd try searching for the answers in other forums.....or email Digitech customer service. Did you try the screw adjustment that is in this thread?

@AskAGuitarPro yes, i've emailed digitech customer service, and i just got an automated message back with a number to call.. so ill probably get round to that before opening up the whammy and fiddling with it.. however if i could get some more information on the screw problem (/solve) that would be fantastic..
i'll email @everybodylovesgav and hopefully i can get some answers.
