Michael Maslansky, CEO of maslansky luntz & partners and author of "The Language of Trust," appears on CNN "American Morning" to weigh in on President Obama and Texas Governor Rick Perry's "language of leadership."
According to Maslansky, President Obama's new mantra of "Pass this bill" demonstrates the first time since he won the presidency that Obama has found language that energizes his base—and connects to the middle—much like "Yes we can" did for him in the election. Through effective language, including wisely naming the bill "The American Jobs Act," he has taken control of the debate.
Maslansky also discusses the differences between the language and speaking style of President Obama and Governor Perry, comparing Perry's more natural charisma to Obama's occasional aloofness. He predicts that if Perry won the Republican presidential nomination, Perry would have to move more toward the middle and not just speak to his supporters.
