The Dashing White Sergeant is an energetic bush dance in Australia. It appears to have been a country dance that had enough Scottish elements to be adopted by them. It is performed to a tune of its own name composed by Henry Bishop in 1826

It is danced here at the Maldon Bush Dance 2010 and the music is supplied by a mixture of the Gay Charmers who are renowned for their dance tempo, the Emu Creek Bush band and their friends. Both bands have excellent toe tapping CDs available.
