  • i prefer the key squares method. what do you think?

  • I don't know that method. How does it go?

  • for a pawn on e2, the key squares are d4,e4 and f4. basically, the same idea as capa. if the attacking king reaches the key square he can eventually promote the pawn. but when the pawn is on the 5th rank ie. e5, there are more key squares -- d6,e6,f6,d7,e7 and f7. i think its easier to look at the position and just plop your king on a key square knowing it is a win. this is from "dvoretsky's endgame manual". if you don't have this book, i'm willing to bet that you eventually will.

  • Ah yes, ok, I see; it's essentially the same method. Interesting anyway. Thanks for that, and all the best!

  • instructive! you might have wanted to point out that going straight back with the king at 5:17 is the only way to draw with black

  • I did explain that =0) Earlier in the video it's given as the technique to draw. Thanks for the feedback anyway!

  • great idea! great video!

  • @LeitrimLady I've been looking for chess videos and, as I can see, I must agree. This is the best!

  • 8´28´´ is not d3, but e6

  • what a story, fascinating !

  • Really good to get the biographical details at the beginning Sean. Thanks for all your research into the players as well as all the fab commentary on the problems.

This is definitely the best chess link on the entire internet!
