Not pulling me away from my Deluxe Mistress, but this is certainly a cool little device!

First off, the LED shifts from green to red and back again with the swirl of the flanger. Awesome!

Secondly, the first half of the Rate knob is actually the classic 'Filter Matrix' setting where the flanger (or filter matrix technically) is kept in one spot instead of sweeping, creating a variety of chiming, glassy, nasal, or grating sounds. Once you turn the Rate knob past 12 it does what you'd expect it to.

Now for the only con: without any 'Color' control the little Neo Mistress is stuck largely in flanger territory, unlike my Deluxe which can get some nice more chorus-ey sounds. However, EHX compromised by juicing up the Neo Mistress a little so the flanger sound has a liquid undertone that keeps it walking the fence between chorus and flanger.

Using 1 knob for 2 different functions/controls like that saves space and keeps the pedal simpler, smaller, and cheaper. Kudos to EHX on this one.

  • HI MAN! is me again! how about ehx holy grail with bass?

  • @usiel999 Haha sure

I think I'm going to have to get a Sans Amp for the bass reviews. I don't have room here for anything with a 15" in it :D

  • @docSanchezFX ok thanks dude!! i'll be waiting for the check of the electric bass pedals! chao!!

  • @usiel999 Aaaan it's up. First bass vid! I'll try to get the Holy Grail up, along with the Neo and Small Clones, the Boss Tremolo and the Phaser.

  • please make a checkout of this pedal with bass! i really want to hear it work on bass! so i can get an idea of how it sounds with bass guitar!

  • @usiel999 Dude, great idea! I'll start doing bass reviews too!

Give me a list of bass pedals you'd like me to do and I'll start doing some of those. It honestly hadn't occurred to me to do that... I need to show a little love for all you bass players out there!

Fortunately I'm one of those basement one-man-bands so I've got a bass, an amp, a camera, and soon a steady stream of bass pedals to review.

Subscribe and let me know how I'm doing via the comments / recommend the next pedal!

  • This pedal seems to add a great deal of "hiss" to the set-up. As soon as it is engaged there is hiss. Even with both knobs turned all the way to the left there is hiss. I've tried isolating it from my board so as to ensure it's not picking up any interference, but the hiss sill still there.

  • @docSanchezFX gracias amigo!! great!! thanks buddy! i'm from mexico city! so sorry about my writing! okay then, please i'd like to see you starting with this NEO MISTRESS and another two more EHX pedals first place! with bass!! so the other one is maybe anywhere betwen SMALL CLONE or NEO CLONE. no one has tested these on bass guitar so i'm really curious about the chorus sound of these with bass at how it will responds. and last one A BOSS pedal! maybe TREMOLO or PHASE SHIFTER.
