You were right. Do you not have a 1st or 3rd valve slide. If so, use them to tune notes. A, C#, D(on bottom) etc...

This was better in tune.

@shutupzeke37 I use my 3rd valve slide. but my trumpet is a bach strad from 1940, they didn't put first valve saddles on them then. I don't use sheet music for these songs, i just learn the notes myself.
