@ChaosDynamics no we dont need f/18s or euro fighters or saab gripens . who`s going to attack us ? you guys needed defence in ww2 against the nazis we didnt thats why you still have modern jets because your military was keept going, oh by the way back in the 40`s to the 60`s we had dehaviland vampires and stuff quite advanced for that era we just SIMPLY dont need em.

But a war in Europe wouldn't directly affect Eire. In the modern sense in would.

But in a slightly less globalised world it wouldn't.

Well, thats the thing, my thinking is focused on the state, and not the EU. It is a shame that is what your country has to be just because it is poor.

I realise well enough to call your president a traitor, techically speaking, but in the end there wasn't any choice about it. And her lack of respect for Democracy back in 04, when Dana Scallon was sidelined by the government.

@ocean3da There is no "state" anymore.You do not seem to realise that we are a member of the the EU and if we were invaded,if the whole country was in ruins, our HQ would still be in Brussels.We dont need a bigger army.Yes it would be nice to have one for bragging rights, but we seriously do not need one.Especially during a recession where we are already in debt.
