    Play the games, they are insane just like Dark Souls (they are hard but once yuo get used to it, it feels so damn good!!!). My favourite are Embodyment of the Scarlet Devil (need a hitbox patch) and Ten Desires (trance meakes everything way easier)

    I'd say Touhou is just a sensation, getting a title of most fanmade stuff first off. I never played either Touhou game but just looking at the arts I can associate most of the characters, (but not the names, meh). I wouldn't lie saying half of my japanese music on my mobile is inspired by Touhou including minami, IOSYS, Ayakura Mei etc.  The only thing I can say about this is: Fans, let's keep up the good work :)
