Hillary Rodham Clinton
Remarks to the U.N. 4th World Conference on Women Plenary Session
delivered 5 September 1995, Beijing, China

Excerpt:

rought us to this point, distinguished delegates, and guests:

I would like to thank the Secretary General for inviting me to be part of this important United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women. This is truly a celebration, a celebration of the contributions women make in every aspect of life: in the home, on the job, in the community, as mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, learners, workers, citizens, and leaders.

It is also a coming together, much the way women come together every day in every country. We come together in fields and factories, in village markets and supermarkets, in living rooms and board rooms. Whether it is while playing with our children in the park, or washing clothes in a river, or taking a break at the office water cooler, we come together and talk about our aspirations and concern. And time and again, our talk turns to our children and our families. However different we may appear, there is far more that unites us than divides us. We share a common future, and we are here to find common ground so that we may help bring new dignity and respect to women and girls all over the world, and in so doing bring new strength and stability to families as well.

Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton (born October 26, 1947) is the 67th United States Secretary of State, serving in the administration of President Barack Obama. She was a United States Senator for New York from 2001 to 2009. As the wife of the 42nd President of the United States, Bill Clinton, she was the First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001. In the 2008 election, Clinton was a leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination.

you all have got to be kidding me.

sex selective abortion is COMPLETELY different from being pro-choice,

and further more, she is making a very important speech about HUMAN rights, and all you can focus on is how thick her eyebrows are?

    i weep for you people

Women's rights have evolved tremendously over the past few decades. I think us women should be thankful for how far we and the women before us have come in developing equal human rights between women and men. We're lucky to live in a time period that women can vote and can be working instead of staying at home cooking, cleaning, etc. We Americans should be focusing on helping women in other countries gain the same rights as we have, so they can know how it feels to be an independent human being.

An excellent and poignant speech! Well written and well delivered. An intelligent woman making a difference for women all over the world, and helping to put an end to patriarchy, which hurts all persons, men, women, children alike. Women's rights are human rights, just as the rights of all people are humans rights. I salute and support you, Hilary, in your fight for equality for all the world's people.

I used to be able to do Thirty-one proper push-ups per min. back when I was eleven. I was still flat as a board back then. Seventh grade changed every thing. I went from being the most energetic to the most exausted girl in the class. The part that upset me was we had PE every day at school. And the day before I had was able to finish the laps like normal I was always fith to finish but the guys were on track. The next day I started running and I had a sudden burst of pain. It hurt to run.

Sad thing is you are the same age as me. Also I wasn't kidding about the chest thing. I HAVE a 36G sized chest. I used to be able to do Thirty-one pushups per min. Sad thing about that is that was ten years ago when I was completely flat. Half way throught seventh grade I hit a groth spurt. I was a 36D by the age of fifteen. And a 36G by the end of seventeen. I never could do push-ups on my knees. Infact I hated it. But now my chest is much to heavy for my arms to support me like they used too.
