The true power of ninjutsu is in the wide spectrum of situation-control it allows you. A highly trained ninpo warrior could not only kill you, but he can also "seriously fuck you up" if it's needed/desired, or he can as well deal great damage and pain without leaving a single bruise or mark on the skin... Depending on what is the best thing to do.

A ninja never relies in brute force, but in his depth of awareness and skill to flow swiftly within nature's forces.

I understand your view about looking "choreographed"... The only thing I gotta tell you is, be careful to judge to quickly, this is not a demonstration. Hatsumi-sensei is not trying to show off how effective he might be to anyone, that is a CLASS my friend, a videotaped class, he is trying to explain complex combat concepts to his students. Uke (the one who receives the technique) has to collaborate in order to make it explainable, and sensei has to do it a little bit slow...

That´s right, friend. And the truth is, I don't really care if Hatsumi-sensei is getting rich or not. I'm receiving something truly invaluable, and not because I believe in him or not, but because I LIVE my Budô everyday, and the teachings of my master have changed my life in a marvelous way. I don't have to check on Dr. Hatsumi's scrolls or something to be sure what he teaches is precious, if he's my master's master, he must be an incredibly awesome man.

Psh he's 81 and if you tried to put him in an octagon he would probably just escape & you'd never see him again. If he really had anything to prove by defeating such a brutish oaf of an opponent he could probably put a drop of poison in his mouth the night before the fight & the papers would read "UFC champion dies of drug overdose", or just jump on his shoulders and snap his neck in the ring. He's THE Grandmaster!

@zsoujiro No one can ever truly understand just from watching. This is real on a spiritual level as well as physical. If they ever met a true 5th dan or higher in ninjitsu they would know just how special these men are. Hatsumi being Grandmaster I can only imagine. Unfortunately most people on the outside looking in think its all about being a bad*** when its the exact opposite. Ninjitsu school I go to have the most beautiful souls you would ever meet but I wouldn't try them.
