7/15/11. A few hearty Minnesotans showed up for a health care rally last Friday at the Minnesota state capitol. The government of Minnesota is currently in shutdown mode. Minnesota's top wage earners and corporations refuse to contribute to the budget by paying slightly more in taxes. Therefore, those of us in the middle class and those of us in poverty will be forced to pay more than our fair share. We rallied at the capitol to call attention to the fact that health care IS A RIGHT and not a privilege! It was sad to see only a handful of people at the capitol to protest cuts to health care. In fact, over the last couple weeks there have only been a few people protesting the shutdown and proposed budget cuts. What a disgrace. We need solidarity. With thousands of people out of work, there is no excuse why thousands of unemployed cannot show up and camp out at the capitol and raise their collective voices to the concerted corporatist effort to destroy the middle class in this country.
