This is a demo of the Yamaha SPX90 that I did for Nick, a mate and fellow gear-junkie (nightraven on TGP and GG, etc.)
He wanted to see what the early reflections in reverse mode sounded so we could see if it could do the My Bloody Valentine-thing. In this video I showcased the other effects, which are - in all honesty - not that much to write home about. I also demoed the Reverse Gate, though I actually preferred the Reverse Early Reflections sound.
I didn't do a miked up recording of it since my laptop has been stolen (at this moment) and half of my rig is at one of my band mates from IZAH. Nevertheless, it shows what the setting does.
I ended up putting this unit up for sale. I didn't really use the reverse sounds but always wanted to try them out. I can do MUCH more with recording techniques and software which are also way more diverse.
The bypass on this unit isn't to write home about and the tone sucking is never welcome. Putting it in a true bypass looper is an option but some presets will yield a volume drop, sadly.
If you're going to buy this unit, make sure the internal battery is okay! This is used to save your presets and is quite the hassle to replace, so I've heard.
NOTE:
- Go to Part 1 if you want to see the Reverse Early Reflections by itself.
- Go to Part 2 if you want to see the Early Reflections in a practical application.

Have you tried the Yamaha FX900? Can you compare against the SPX90?
On the other hand, what would you say the Pros and Cons of the SPX90 are?
Thx!

@ofesad
I haven't. I'm not a big of these Yamaha racks. I just got the SPX90 to take a testdrive on it. Awful unit, in my opinion.

@DemoColorScheme really? so you would advice an SPX 90 over a quadraverb?
I heard the displays of the quadraverb almost always goes bad too...

@DemoColorScheme Have you ever tried the Alesis Quadraverb?

@Kekke466
I have, actually. Wasn't too impressed with that one as well. Plus, it was rather noisy.
