It's the summon. Some bosses are disabled from taking damage from summons, so summons always hit 1 on them.

Generally canceling is better for higher dps and for the fact that you don't launch yourself at the boss.

That's not what I was asking. But I do see you two implied when monster do less damage, letting out the 4th hit is more preferable. Is there any reason for that?

Yeah, if he didn't cancel it, I think he'd hit the boss every time. So using BS before that is preferred.

Seems that Boomerang Step allows the character to remain stationary where Assassinate will throw him all over the place. According to the data presented at the beginning of the video, this is one boss you don't want to bump into.
